Written Walkthrough

While many Google services can be used for free, there is typically a usage threshold that limits its usage. In some cases, adding billing to your account can increase these free thresholds with no additional cost. In other cases, an associated billing account is required for usage.

Make sure you complete the Add a Payment Method step and Create a Google Cloud Project first before continuing.

  1. Navigate to the Google Cloud Dashboard here: https://console.cloud.google.com/apis/dashboard

  2. In the top-left corner, click on the hamburger menu icon represented by the 3 horizontal lines.

  3. In the slide-out navigation shade, click on Billing.

  4. You should see a box that says This project has no billing account. Click on the Link a billing account link.

  5. You will now see a popup for Enable billing for project “_____”. Click on Create billing account in the popup window.

  6. Ensure that the correct account is selected (it should be the one associated to your business created during the Create a Google Business Account step).

  7. Choose the appropriate country in the dropdown and then click on the Agree & continue button.

  8. Select the appropriate payment method and then click on Start free.

If you don’t see any payment methods listed, make sure you followed the previous Add a Payment Method step.

  1. Your account will now be associated to the new billing account. You may see a survey popup; this can just be closed with the Close button at the bottom.
